Ossob Mohamud
Alumni Fellow and Interim Curriculum Director
Ossob Mohamud is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar and majored in International Politics with a certificate in Arab studies. She was born and raised in Qatar and spent a large part of her life in Arlington, Virginia and is originally from Somalia.
Her interest in global education was only natural as she has lived in and navigated through three vastly different places, cultures, languages and a perspective growing up and thus has strong opinions about the many opportunities and challenges that face global citizenship today.
Being passionate about community issues, education, and youth work Ossob has had many experiences in the classroom and creating curriculums in diverse settings for variety of purposes ranging from working with Qatari male youth for college readiness to English Language Learners in inner-city DC to Indonesian high-schoolers learning about expressive writing and to Qatari female youth discussing topics on gender equity. Her experience working as an assistant in her universities admissions office for 4 years has had her designing trainings and orientations for incoming students from around the world. Her experiences with youth and curriculum has taught her valuable lessons on the importance of inclusivity, diversity in content, and content that is relevant and skill based.
Ossob is excited by the possibilities that global citizenship education can create for youth from various social, racial, and economic backgrounds, especially in how it can change outlooks of youth about their peers abroad.
