About the OWYP team:
From 2004 to 2009, One World Youth Project was run by a volunteer team of university students in seventeen countries, coordinating via email, Skype and Facebook. For five years OWYP’s volunteer staff, including Founder Jess Rimington, operated and expanded the organization as volunteers in between their college classes and meeting annually for an in-person summer planning retreat.
In 2009 and 2010, several of OWYP’s original volunteers moved to Washington DC from Mexico, Nigeria and California to work full-time on advancing OWYP’s model. This powerful community of five formed the initial start-up ‘dream team’: Jess Rimington (Executive Director), Jeff Arak (Strategy Director), Jennifer Ehidiamen (Communications Director) and Cady Voge (Program Director)
In 2011, OWYP ran an international search for the rest of its start-up staff and hired an additional five incredible leaders: Anjali Daryanani (Communications Director), Scott Shigeoka (Partnership Director), George Ho (Community Relations Director), Greg Sullivan (Performance Director) and Surya Kundu (Curriculum Director). The team also welcomed its first alumni on staff as a Program Coordinator in 2011, Ossob Mohamud from Qatar, and its second, Mychal Estrada from California, USA in 2012.
